TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama baseball improved to a 12-0 record after a completed series sweep against Harvard with a 6-3 win at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. This big win gives the Crimson Tide the second-best start in program history, just three games behind the 1997 team that went 15-0.
The Crimson Tide came out early with three runs in the second inning before Harvard put up two runs in the third. The Crimson made things even in the sixth, but with a single shot home run by sophomore T.J. Reeves in the bottom of the seventh, Alabama was up on top for good.
Alabama secured two more runs in the bottom of the eighth to add a cushion on its way to the 6-3 win.
From Head Coach Brad Bohannon
"This was just another really good win for us today. When the wind's blowing in, you're going to be in tight games and that was a good experience for us to be in, a tight game like that. I'm excited to continue to move forward with league play around the corner."
Senior Brett Auerbach led the team with an RBI and one run scored and Reeves showed out with two RBIs. Five other Alabama starters recorded at least one hit in the March 1st matchup.
Alabama players added and took away from their overall individual statistics in the three-game series, but together worked as a team and completed the wins.
The bullpen for the Crimson Tide gave the offense time to get a decent lead again against Harvard which was key when the Crimson got their two runs.
Junior Brock Guffey recorded his second win of the season after he entered the game in the seventh inning allowing no hits and striking out seven batters.
Up next, Alabama will continue their homestand at The Joe and host South Alabama on Tuesday, March 3rd and North Alabama on Wednesday, March 4th
