TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The bottom of the eighth became a massive part in Alabama's 10-5 win in the second game of the series against Harvard University. With no outs, and down by one, the Crimson Tide scored eight runs off four hits and four errors. Sophomore right-hander Chase Lee recorded his first win and second save of the 2020 season.
Harvard started the game off in the fifth inning where they put three runs on the scoreboard. Alabama responded with one apiece in the sixth and seventh making it a one-run game going into the final two frames.
Alabama evened the game up and used a wild pitch followed by an RBI-single from freshman pinch hitter Owen Diodati which put the Crimson Tide in front.
Senior Kolby Robinson hit a grounder that looked to be a double play, but a throwing error led to a wild play that gave Harvard three errors in total and three runs to Alabama that gave them the lead.
Harvard Crimson ended the game with a pair of singles and a double that brought in two which then made it 10-5.
The Crimson Tide marked its 11th win which is the best start under coach Brad Bohannon, surpassing the 2018 team's 9-0 start to their season. They are also tied with the 1988 squad that won 11 straight for the second-best start in program history.
Up next, Alabama looks to get the sweep against Harvard on Sunday, March 1st, 2020.
